down with wilco

'Sounds like mid-career Beatles or Paul McCartney's solo material. It's difficult to hear Peter Buck's usual guitar work on this album. Then again, the part that Wilco played on this record may be the reason for this. Their influence drowns out the potential sound of everyone else's input. Then again, that is what to be expected from the group still fresh off the success of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." It's hard to argue with a band that put out such a landmark album. High points: Jeff Tweedy's backing vocals. His voice is mesmerizing and works well on this record. Low points: The record drags at points and produces a sense of monotony.
